LEONARD P. ZAKIM CENTER FOR INTEGRATIVE THERAPIES
“Love, Janis: the Musical”
Leonard Zakim was a civil rights leader who led the Anti-Defamation League of New England and spent his life fighting all forms of bigotry. Before his death in 1999 from cancer, Lenny was a driving force in efforts to make integrative (or complementary) therapies available to all patients and their families at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Shown are the save the date postcard, invitation and envelopes for the 2008 fundraising event. Proceeds from the “Love, Janis: the Musical” directly benefit the Zakim Center, continuing the Institute’s commitment to providing expert, compassionate care, while enhancing the quality of life for pediatric and adult cancer patients and families.
“Love, Janis” was an inspiring and intimate portrayal of Janis Joplin, the 1960’s rock and blues icon. This unique Broadway musical was based on the bestselling book by Joplin’s sister, Laura, telling the story directly from Joplin’s own interviews and letters along with Joplin’s music played by a live rock band.
